Hybrid Tea Rose Type

Published by Lady-J

Hybrid Tea Rose Type

This type of rose came about as a result of crossing the Tea Rose and the Hybrid Perpetual type. the result of this cross was the first hybrid tea known as ” La France”. The first yellow colored rose  the “Soleil d’Or” appeared in 1900. These are a modern rose that bloom for long periods of time on top of long stems. Its long stem and many petals make up for a poor scent. If you are looking for a scented rose this is not the rose for you.

They are suitable for practically any garden and should be planted about 30 inches apart. They come in a variety of colors and in fact many of these type of roses can be thorn free. Some vendors will label them as “smooth” if they are thorn free.

Roses are in general deep rooted and can survive prolonged periods of drought. Any rose appreciates a good mulching and these are no different. The mulch acts as a feed, a weed suppressant and helps retain moisture. Thery take about 3 years of consistent growth to reach maturity. Many people say that the Hybrid Tea type rose has a short lifespan. I have found that with a reasonable degree of care they will continue blooming for as long as you want them to.

All roses love sunlight so try to plant them in a situation where they can get as much sunlight as possible. This type of rose in particulr hates wet conditions. Try to avoid windy situations as they really do not like that. Hybrid Tea roses do not like extreme cold either.

In February, when your flowers are dormant, you’ll want to prune your roses. Your first step will be to remove dead branches and damaged canes. In colder climates, you’ll most likely have to cut all the old damaged wood. Look for lively green canes. You can read here about

How To Prune Roses

Those are the canes that will produce buds in the spring. In warmer areas, remove any existing leaves from the plant, as this will promote new growth. Lastly, remove any debris from your garden. Now you’re ready for spring. As spring approaches and your roses begin to grow, you should fertilize  with a high-nitrogen fertilizer. This is one type of rose you should consider growing. You can buy some of the most gorgeous rose bushes here. Several beautiful species.
